2020 Regional High School Mock Trial Competition
The Tennessee Bar Association Young Lawyers’ Division is excited to announce the scheduling of the 2020 Regional High School Mock Trial Competition to be held at the Williamson County Judicial Center on February 29, 2020 beginning at 8:00 a.m.
This excellent event cannot take place without the support of our local bar associations and volunteers to serve as scorers during each round of the competition.
Specifically, we need attorney volunteers to score and give feedback for the following rounds:
2020 Competition Schedule
ROUND I 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. (arrive 8:00 a.m.)
ROUND II 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (arrive 10:30 a.m.)
ROUND III 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. (arrive 1:30 p.m.)
(FINALS)* 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. (arrive 3:00 p.m.)
*Final round judge and scorers will be selected by the Mock Trial Coordinators.
Thank you for considering volunteering, your participation will require about 2-2.5 hours of your time for each round, including a brief orientation. Please consider participating as a scorer in at least two rounds during the competition.
Our district has produced some of the best teams statewide, resulting in one of our competing teams winning both the State and National competitions in 2019. This year, we expect upwards of 20 competing teams, with each trial consists of a presiding judge who rules on evidentiary and procedural rules and objections throughout the trial and three scorers who comprise the jury and determine the winners of each trial.
